The Denver Charity 2002 will benefit five Denver charities.  These local charities were determined by a volunteer vote.  The one criterion that had to be met was that the charity had to either be a local charity (or have a local chapter).  This year's charities are as follows:

Colorado Coalition for the Homeless

The mission of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is to work collaboratively toward the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for homeless and at-risk families, children, and individuals throughout Colorado. CCH advocates for and provides a continuum of housing and a variety of services to improve the health, well-being and stability of those it serves.

Harlequin Wheelchair Rugby

The mission of Harlequin Wheelchair Rugby (the only quadriplegic rugby team in Colorado) is to provide a sport for those people with disabilities that preclude their play in able-bodied sport competition.  The team does more than just play rugby; they give back to the community by providing demonstrations to local schools and organizations to increase disability awareness.

Never Forgotten Fund

Following the Columbine tragedy in April 1999, 850 KOA and parent company, Clear Channel, created The Never Forgotten Fund. The Fund ensures that the names of the 13 lost at Columbine are never forgotten by awarding one scholarship annually in each of their names. In the initial year, the scholarships were awarded exclusively to Columbine students. In March 2000 the scholarship application process was broadened to include students and faculty in the entire Denver Metro area.
